Have you ever lost anything on a coaster?
I lost a hat and a pair of sunglasses on DINOSAUR.
Someone on the Thunderhead lost his wallet. They had to close the ride for a few minutes to get it back.

My best friend lost a hat on Pheonix. Good thing we were camping since he didnt get it back until 2 days later/day we were leaving. They do sweeps of it daily and he lost it after they already did the daily sweep and it was also kind of high up. The people there are really nice though, we checked every day in the morning and at night and got to know the lady at the lost and found lol, she even said she was going to miss us stopping in when we came back to claim his hat and said we were leaving that day lol.

I lost my Millennium Force bucket hat on DaVinci's Cradle at BGW. I forgot it was on my head and it flew over a fence into a restricted area and I never got it back

I've never lost anything on a ride, but I've seen plenty of other people lose stuff. So much change flies out of peoples pockets on Phoenix at BGT it's unbelievable; they ops must have themselves some great treasure hunts after hours. Also a lot of hats lost on Boulder Dash. People don't take the "If you lose you'll never see it again" speech seriously. And I won't even mention some of the things people have lost on the skyride...

I never lost anything on a ride either, but this weekend when I was in line for the Twister I put my dad's cellphone in my backpack and I never saw it for the rest of the day. The next day I had to walk across the park to the Ferris Wheel lost & found.

I lost $5 on Great Bear at Hersheypark two years ago & my dad lost his favorite pair of sunglasses on the Incredible Hulk at Universal Studio's Islands of Adventure.

After I started this topic, I read an article that showed some of the strangest things lost on roller coasters. Things like a $100 bill, a glass eye, and the strangest, a prostetic leg. (The leg was claimed by a guest.)

Yes I've read some article about a coaster that was to be knocked down a few months ago and those kinds of things were found on the ground below the coaster.

Whats really funny is Anaconda at PKD. Since its over the lake, you can walk by and see hats just floating on the surface. I bet if Paramount ever drained the lake they would find enough money to make up for some of their lame movies...

Surprisingly I haven't lost anything yet. I do a good job of keeping track of my hat, sunglasses, etc etc.

Larry's dropping of his passport and recorder is the most amazing lost story ever. Then the fact that it is caught on time just makes it classic. Since he got everything back in the end it's just a great story.

I haven't lost anything on a coaster, but I can say from experience that I've seen people lose wallets, cell phones, lighters, cigarrettes, money (lots and lots of change), sunglasses, their lunch (haha, not fun to clean up). The best is when I saw someone lose their car keys on Storm Runner, I was operating and all of a sudden I notice a silver blur rush by the train, I said something to my supervisor and he was like I don't think anyone lost keys, and sure enough when the train came back a guy is like I lost my keys. It's always fun when maintenance brings up the cell phones that flew off of Storm Runner, and let's just say they that some of them actually work after that. Surprisingly enough, a lot of people seen to lose basketballs on the Canyon River Rapids, I can't tell you how many I've had to fish out of the water. Also, I hear of a guy wearing a prosthetic leg on Great Bear, and when it went over the loop if flew off into the pond below.

I've never lost anything on a ride but I almost lost my keys on the Space Roller at the Meadowlands Fair. Halfway through the ride I noticed that the zipper pocket that I kept them in was open. So while the seats were flipping all around I was trying to navigate my hand to the zipper. That was scary for a few seconds until I managed to close it.

Two quickies:
1) Debut season of the Great Escape Comet, my wife knocked my favorite Buffalo Bills cap off my head on the far turnaround. I asked the ride op if he could look for it, and he obliged and found it. It had a prominent grease mark across the brim, and I love it even more and still wear it with pride.

2) I went to Queens with one of my direct reports on a business trip, and I took her to Coney Island to ride the Cyclone. On the second ride, she lost her wallet with $120 in it. The ride ops would not search during operating hours, so she left her name & #. Naturally, it was never located. I kid her to this day those were the two most expensive coaster rides anyone I know had ever taken.

One final humorous story:

17 years ago, a buddy of mine and I were riding hands up on Rolling Thunder @ SFGA. Down the first drop the hat of the guy directly in front of us flew off, and to our astonishment, right into my friend's hands. He gave it back to him, and what does this idiot do? Puts it back on, and it flies off AGAIN on the turnaround. Needless to say it was gone for good this time.

Well, on Nitro I lost my old hat, on Steel Force I lost a bit of change, and on Talon I lost my park map. Two things lost in one day.

Oh, and I happened to claim a lost hat that came off El Toro. :smirks:

My wife lost her driver's license on the Voyage. That wasn't too fun to have to replace.

I don't think I've lost anything on a coaster lately. I did catch some jerk's hat on Gemini at CP, after it smacked me in the face. I contemplated throwing it into the trash, but the "better angels of my nature" forced me to give it back to the guy.

Last year when I was waiting for the Loch Ness Monster, a girl accidentally dropped her flip flop into the clamp brakes in the station (she was taking off her flip flops to put in the loose article bin, but somehow one ended up in the clamp brakes). The employees couldn't get it out, but amazingly the ride was still able to continue operating.

Also, a few years ago when I was riding Boulder Dash, some guy in front of me lost his sunglasses when the ride was speeding over the final few bunny hills. Needless to say I don't think he got them back.

Finally, this year at Canobie some guy on the Xtreme Frisbee lost his sunglasses during the ride. They fell somewhere into the queue line and I don't think the guy ever got them back.
