ladies and gents-
i assume many of you have had roller coaster dreams. hearing about other's dreams, provided they are not TOO personal or disturbing, is a big interest of mine.

i think coasters are a big archetype for me, and they pop up in my dreams nearly as often as "classic" dream subjects such as disasters or teeth falling out etc.

so i invite anyone to share on this topic.

i posted this elsewhere on here, but i recently had a dream that the coney island cyclone kept stalling out halfway up to the first turnaround (this was about a week before it apparently actually DID stall out). a second train was required to "ram" the first out of the stall, but second train then stalled in the same spot while ramming the first, requiring the first one to go back around and ram and this process kept going on and on. it was a very tedious and bad dream.

perhaps my most memorable dream was one i had about ten years ago. in the dream i was going up the lift of the comet at hershey park at dusk. suddenly the first turnaround collapses to the ground. the collapse occurred at the halfway point on the pullout after the first drop, leaving a sort of "launch ramp" for the train to blast off into the abyss. people gasped and started exiting the train onto the lift hill catwalk (i guess the lap bars weren't locked). everyone but me got out of the train and stood by as i continued to go towards the precipice. they kept calling to me, "get out! hurry! you're crazy!" i just smiled, and politely made the "no thanks" hand wave. the train dropped and i remember jumping out and somehow landing on my feet in the rubble of the collapsed superstructure. i found the whole thing to be pretty funny and i just walked around picking up the planks and thinking how crappy it was the comet fell apart.

now i don't have a death wish in real life, at least not to my conscious knowledge, so i don't know what the significance of me remaining on the train is. but i always think about that whenever i go up the lift of the comet.......

I used to have all sorts of weird dreams about the Vortex at Kings Island - either we had to disembark and climb down the lift hill, or it would just get stuck in the brake run before the corkscrews - and we'd just sort of sit there silently. And, of course, the Beast - I don't know how many hundreds of times I rode that in my teens, but it just sort of burned itself into my psyche, and it would show up all the time in my dreams... either it would just keep circling over and over and over in the helix, or would be entirely enclosed in tunnels. Dreams are crazy stuff, to say the least...

Oh, i've had plenty. But one of them is very distinct...

I was on S:RoS at SFNE, and we were in the helixes. When it went through the loop() I fell out. I was still in my restraint though. I managed to walk up to the station and the operators were yelling at me.

It was really weird...

Well mine isn't nessesirly a coaster dream but sometimes I dream that when I get to a amusment park (which ever it is) theres always a big thunderstorm and all the rides are closed. We then wind up having to leave early without riding anything. What a nightmare.

Let me tell ya'll about the coaster dreams I've had:

Most of my dreams involve me riding some of the best coasters around (Raven, Legend, Boulder Dash, etc.) & it's not even the right layout.

I had one dream of riding Talon: Grip of Fear at Dorney Park & I fell off during one of the inversions b/c my restraint came off.

Finally, I had a weird dream that Cedar Point wasn't in Sandusky, OH. It was actually in my hometown of Harrisburg, PA around Linglestown. If only that was a reality.

ok folks-
last night i had a goofy one about the sooper dooper looper @ hershey. in my waking life the SDL was my very first coaster. so in the dream i wanted to take my girlfriend on it, and i was prefacing it like "it's kinda boring, but it's a classic and there won't be a line." so we went through the queue and it was totally run down, with weeds growing everywhere. i thought, "man they're letting this ride go to pot..." once we got up to the loading platform there were only a few people waiting in line and the ride ops were some chubby looking metalhead types who seemed stoned. each car in train was like a flat bed with only regular house chairs sitting atop the flat bed cars as the seats! all the chairs were mismatched, some were nice cozy padded chairs, some were kind of hard school-type chairs. i was concerned that they'd totally let this ride go to the birds. i asked an op how we were supposed to ride without falling out and he just said, "its fine, the belt will keep you AND the chair from falling off." so my girlfriend and i got into the back seat. the belts came up from the floor and were long enough to lock in both us and the chairs.

then we started up the lift. in many ways it was exact to my memory. the color of the track was the kind of beige color it was back when i was a kid (before they painted it blue). the only difference really was that i was sitting in a wood chair that was only held down to the train by a long seat belt. at the top of the lift we turned to the left and headed down the drop. my chair tilted back onto it's hind legs so i was kind of doing a wheelie and it was terrifying. i screamed but it was also kind of fun. no one fell out of the train and i was grateful for that.

as we went into the loop then train slowed down incredibly and almost before the summit of the loop we came to a stop. i said aloud "rollback!" then we rolled back and came to a stop at the bottom of the loop.

one of the heavy metal ride op guys came to help us get off. he said, "sorry guys, she hasn't been running too good lately." i was realy bummed out.

i woke up.

I'm sorry for bumping up such an old board, but I constantly get told I'm crazy becasue of this problem.

When I was younger, I used to have nightmares including birds all the time, but that's a different story. But now I am constantly having amusement park dreams, and here are a few...

When I was in Pittsburgh last week I had a dream that we were at Kennywood and I was in line for the Phantom's Revenge. It had Intamin track though instead of Arrow track and then we poofed into a department store... Yeah I know that's really weird...

Once I had a dream a while ago where I was in New Jersey and I looked over when we were going to our "relative's" house when I saw this old, creepy abandoned amusement park. It had a roller coaster and a ski lift type ride. Anyway, when we were leaving the house, we passed it again and we fell out of the car when the roller coaster started going up it's lift hill... There were screams when it went down the hill, but there was no one on it... Creepy...

Then I had a dream where I was at Hersheypark and my sister's friend was there. I was going on Storm Runner with my mom, and then my scaredy cat sister came on because her friend was on the ride. The launch took you up to about 15 miles per hour and the rest of the ride was like a kiddie coaster...

Now this is just about the weirdest coaster dream I have ever had... We were at Knoebels, but Knoebels had about 10 coasters instead of just 3 + Flying Turns. There was one roller coaster there called the Apollo's Chariot and the track was painted just like the Apollo's Chariot that's at Busch Gardens. So in my dream I knew what the real Apollo's Chariot was like, so I was really nervous going on it. So I was like deep breathing and everyone is laughing at me in the car... The lift hill was about 30 feet and it was a junior coaster. That was the end of that dream.

So those are a few of my creepy coaster dreams... I have had SOOOO many weird dreams in my life, like there was this one with Jafar from Aladdin knocking down the door, one with a creepy cuckoo clock with an owl in it, one exactly the same as the clock one but at a different place, and one with a babysitter parrot biting off my finger. There was also one with a bat eating me. But, that has nothing to do with coasters.

But I thought that that sooperdooperLooper dream you had was really funny hrrytraver.

I had one dream where there was a launch coaster at Dollywood. It launched forward and the ride was fine. Then something went wrong and it launched the train backwards through the ride. It through us into the restraints and some of the ride trains just fell off...and then I woke up.

I just had this weird coaster dream last night. I dreamed that I was just at this one cemetery, but all of a sudden, I was right in line for Top Thrill Dragster. I was towards the front of the line & was very excited about riding it since I didn't ride it at all last year. Unfortunately, someone came up to me while I was in line & asked if I had a park ticket. I didn't have one, so I woke up before I would've found out what a park employee does to people who sneak into Cedar Point.

I just had this strange dream last night about my friends & I visiting Walt Disney World & we were riding Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom. Strangely though, I saw a Skycoaster at Animal Kingdom & it was so awkward considering that a Skycoaster would never fit in & it was based over a lake. People had a lot of fun riding it though & one guy got so scared that he unstrapped himself & fell right into the water. Also, my 2nd dream was that I was visiting Hersheypark for the day (that's strange enough already) & the security guards wouldn't let me in without my ID pass. I left it at home, so I couldn't get in. All of a sudden, I started rapping in front of a crowd out in the parking lot & while I was rapping, the security guard gave me a replacement ID pass & I was able to enter through the gates. The minute I got in there, this one crazy girl chases me around the whole park (I forget her name & I forgot what I did to her).

^sure you forgot what you did to that girl in your dream, rcg.

funny you resurrected this thread. i was thinking about doing the same, becuase i had another dream two nights ago about the cyclone. i DID just ride it on saturday, but i have dreams about the cyclone several time a year. it's part of my neural make-up at this point.

I had a dream about the Cyclone about a month ago... Well actually it wasn't really about the Cyclone... But it was the same night that I had a dream where a meteor landed in front of our house. I nicknamed that night 'Natural Disaster Dream Night'.

Well anyway, there was supposed to be a tornado in New York. So my dad made us all go to NY that day.

We were driving in the car and we went to stop somewhere (I totally forget why). Well it turned out that we stopped right by the Cyclone's queue and lift hill. I've never been to Coney, so I don't really know what the lift and queue is like, but the queue was like, intersecting to the queue line in this dream. A bunch of kids were in line who I realized were people from my school, and they were all wearing the same shirts that we were all required to wear to the Hersheypark field trip this year.

Anyway, I was telling them about this tornado that was supposed to come when my family and I went back to the parking lot that was right next to the Cyclone (which isn't really there, in that position, but this was another one of those dreams where the coaster's layout and location is all messed up. We looked up and there was a tornado. There was this yellow old fashioned looking car that had these little compartments on the sides of the lights. My sister climbed into one of these little compartments (not sure how she fit) and the one on my side was too small so I crouched down next to the car. Then I realized that my sister had ran into our conversion van (which we have in the real world) with the rest of our family. I was really mad that they all went in the van without telling me, and I ran in. The van shook a little but somehow we weren't sucked up into the tornado. Then I woke up.

This could also be a recycling of that memory I have of when that tornado hit the town around Hershey 2 or 3 years ago... (people around here probably remember it... RCG, do you?) I know Steve Knight (if anyone besides me has him for the news) was visiting some people hwo were hit by that tornado for the Steaks and A Forecast... I was there at the doctor right before it happened but we got back to our house about 10 minutes before it touched ground.

deathcab-
natural disasters are very common in dreams. i have tidal wave and tornado dreams farily often. strangely, i never feel terrified in these dreams, just very fascinated.

it's interesting that there was a cyclone in your cyclone dream...

A simple one: flew out of the seat on Nitro's first drop because of the insecurity and drunk ops

All right, I have another report about dreams. I've been at my grandma's house and I've always seemed to have odd dreams at her house...

Well, the first night (Wed.), my dream was at Knoebels. The park had 2 Loopers, the one in real life and then another one around where the Paradrop and Super Roundup is. The second one had this huge building around it and when you went inside, you had to do a series of amusement park games like Ski-Ball and such and then you could go on the rides. I went on with my mom and the one that we were instructed to go on was just a big circle of metal. And it didn't loop, it had a sort of motion where it fell over and kept moving like that.

Then in my second dream (Thurs.), well, it was also about the Looper. The one previously mentioned that was in the Paradrop area had the building removed and it was a carousel with Looper cars scattered around (nice idea for a ride, huh? I have some potential in the amusement park business...) Well, my friend and I were going on it on one of the Looper cars and we were about to sit down when the one was full of nasty brown water... So we sat in the other one and that was the end of that part of the dream. Then we were going on the Looper that is there in real life and we were riding it then I realized I once again didn't get the pedal side. So I told my friend to push the pedal and she said that she didn't know how. So I told her that we've been on this ride before (and we have been on the ride before in real life) and she got the pedal last time. Well she wasn't listening and somehow she got some dude to push the pedal. Suddenly we were underwater and I almost drowned because I couldn't get to the surface.

It's interesting that these were both Looper dreams with the same unreal Looper that happened on two consecutive nights. Also, for those of you that have been on a Norman Bartlett Looper, they give you a weird sensation, don't they? Well, it's even weirder when you're dreaming it...
