Day 1 - 7/25

My 2 cousins & I left for CP at around 3 a.m. The drive to CP was around 6 1/2 hrs. We arrived at CP at around 9:45 a.m. & there was already some people standing at the gate. After 15 mins., CP opened & we got our Ride & Slide 2-Day Pass for a discounted price of $60.95 instead of the intended $67.95. Now it's time for me to tell ya'll what rides that I've went on during Day 1.

The first ride that we rode was Demon Drop. It only had a 15 min. wait & it was a good way of getting ourselves ready for the big drops on CP's coasters. Demon Drop was very unique & the ride actually wasn't that bad. It didn't look to be very high at first until I got on it. The drop was so much fun.

After Demon Drop came our first coaster ride for the day, Raptor. The wait was about 1 hr. 20 mins., but it was well worth it. I got in line for the front seat since a lot of people said that it was the only seat to get a great ride on Raptor. Raptor was so intense & the speed was very good too. I don't know why so many people think that Raptor's overrated b/c I loved the way of how Raptor actually kinda threw you around some of its inversions & banked turns. That was actually one of a few B&M inverts that I've ever ridden on that had some character to it. Raptor's definitely my favorite B&M invert so far.

After Raptor was the Disaster Transport. The wait was only 15 mins. & it wasn't that bad b/c while we were in line, it was air-conditioned which is great for getting away from that 96 degree weather. Disaster Transport was an Ok ride to me. It had some surprises in the dark, but it's definitely too short of a ride in order for me to list it as one of my favorites. It's definitely one coaster that ya'll should ride on whenever it's more than 90 degrees outside.

One of my cousins wanted to ride on Chaos, but since I'm not really the best at riding on a lot of spinning rides b/c of them making me very dizzy at the end, I sat this one out. He said that it was a lot of fun though being flipped over a lot.

After that came one of the main reasons for me to visit CP, Millennium Force. Just gazing at the 310 ft. steel super structure was just truly awe-inspiring. I definitely had to ride this one. The wait wasn't that bad for it being the 2nd biggest coaster in the park. It was only like 1 hr. 10 mins. The steep 45 degree lift hill was very fast b/c of the elevator system. After that came the huge 300 ft. drop which was truly sensational & breath-taking. I didn't hold my hands up for the drop, but oh well. I did for the rest of the ride as it was just speeding through the rest of its course. Overall, MF was definitely the best coaster ride of Day 1 as it was one heck of a coaster that has blistering speeds, a lot of height, & some great airtime on those 4 airtime hills. All of that plus it's probably the most smoothest coaster I've ever been on. MF's definitely my new #1 coaster (sorry PR).

After MF, my 2 cousins wanted to go to Soak City, so we decided to split up for about 2 hrs. I decided to head over to Mean Streak. I heard how a lot of people said that for its sheer height, it should've given them one heck of a ride. But b/c of it being rough, having 2 trims during the 1st drop, & not having any airtime at all, they said it was a disappointing ride. I went on hoping that it wasn't going to be like that to me. The wait again was only 15 mins. & I decided to ride in the 2nd seat since the front seat was too long. After my ride on MS, I understood why all of them said that it was a huge leftdown b/c I felt the same way. It wasn't the roughness of MS for why it was a huge letdown for me b/c it's supposed to have some roughness b/c of it being a woody. I'm tired of a bunch of huge B&M fans being a bunch of babies thinking that if it's not a B&M coaster, it's going to be a rough coaster b/c that's not true. The reason was b/c of the 2 trims b/f the 1st drop & it didn't have any airtime. The<

Raptor had a 1 hr and 20 minute wait that early? Seems like you had some pretty bad lines. Most of the ones you said were 15 minutes, are usually walk-ons. But, it still seems like you had a good trip.

RC Genius don't take this the wrong way but have you ever been to a park before. You never stop at the first rides because that is waht the rookies do.

Second you are full of it about TTD and the maintance issues. The reaso I know this is I was there the exact same day. It was running most of the day you just had to get in line and wait it out. While I was in line it had a rollback which causes about a ten minute delay. If you really wanted to ride it you could have on July 25th.

As I read your trip report I am confused on what you did while you were there 2 days. I was there from 11-7 on that hot as fire day and I rode
TTD,MF, Gemini,Raptor, Maxair(you missed a great ride), DT,MG, Woodstock, WT,CCMR, Power Tower, went to their museum, shopped ate and had to leave a line after a 1/2hour.

I am glad you enjoyed your time but I would have only rated your days about a 6/10 both days because of not riding that much.

Coaster05, I've been to amusement parks, but since I knew that the lines for most of CP's coasters were gonna be long anyway, especially TTD & MF, it didn't really matter to me about what coaster to ride first. You're also right that I could've stood in line for TTD on July 25th, but the ride kept breaking down everytime I decided to ride it, but yet, it seemed to be open throughout the rest of the day while I wasn't in line for it. Can you explain that to me? Maybe I was being a lil bit harsh on TTD, but it really needs to work more on its reliablity issues. It's a great ride, but it's like you can only get a 50-50 chance of riding TTD or not. Finally, I know that I could've ridden on more rides, but here are the reasons for why I've ridden on a few rides there. I'm not a spinning ride fan & I wanted to look for a lot of other thrills there too other than their coasters.

I never saw the ride down for more then ten minutes all day. You are right about it being a one trick pony though and the reason I was harsh on the front of the park thing is I waited less then 10 minutes for raptor at 6:00. I guess I just don't believe you should be bashing TTD when it was running pretty much the whole time I was there. Your second day was really a lesson in bad luck and that does suck, but you can't blame CP for harsh weather conditions. I just went with the mindset of I will just get this long wait out of the way.

BTW I only gave it a seven. So you didn't miss a lot, although saying it can't be better then other rides isn't fair if you never rode it.

Sunday July 31st. Is that the day Phoenix is dethroned by Bouldardash?

bunk, he hit Raptor first, and it filled the queue right away both days I was there. That's why you head to the back and hit Mantis (because it loads slow) or TTD of Millennium (because tey are popular).

You should have hit Raptor in the evening, the wair was < 15 minutes after about 7PM. Oh well, you learn from your mistakes I hope

Good report however, and glad you got to experience quite a bit (ie Soak City, which I missed out on due to crappy weather)

Coaster05, don't worry about it. We're cool. I guess that the next time I decide to visit CP that I should have an open mind for TTD & stand in line for it during the beginning of the day no matter how long the line is & how many breakdown occurences there'll be b/c I understand now that I've made a terrible mistake about slamming possibly one of the best coaster experiences around. I was just too upset & disappointed about not riding TTD after being at CP for 2 whole days.

The same thing happened on TTD for me. I think it is a little overratted for the same reasons.
