Ok, so, my band (you caught me, band geek) won an award to go to the great Dorney Park on May 21. So, I need to know where to go, what rides to go on, food places to eat, you know, all that shizz.

HAHA that sucks, thats the day when the guys from CB will be there. That would suck to have to ride next to Jeffrey Putz.

Nonetheless, Hercules has helped me a lot, so hopefully he sees this.

CB = "Coaster Buzz"

Well, a lot of it depends on when you get there and what your schedule is like. The water park will still be closed, so it is all ride park for everyone.

Hydra is going to be busy all day long, so it really doesn't matter when you hit that. I would head straight for the back of the park, with a stop at Dominator to get a few rides on that first, then right back to Steel Force. If you get there early, you should miss the crowds there and get many rides on it. Rememeber, it is Dorney Park policy that you MUST walk around and get back in line, even if the station is empty, so just a heads up for you. From there work you way back to the entrance. I would wait until last to get Hydra, get everything else in first while everyone else is in line for Hydra, but make sure you have better then an hour before you have to leave to get in line.

Of course your milage will vary, and it will also depend on the weather, but it is early in the season all well, so you should be in good shape.

Me, I'll be at GAdv for Kingda Ka ERT

Well, to start off, I hope you have a great time. Dorney is a wonderful place. Now, let's see if I can help.

For the rides, Cyclonic is right on as usual. If you are there rather early, get to the back of the park first because it takes a bit of time for people to filter in there. So just go through the midway, make the left at Wild Mouse and then go down and pass Hydra and walk through Camp Snoopy and follow Dominator. If you want to hit up Dominator first, that is cool, because after that you can just head to the very back. Get on Thunderhawk since it is right on the way back to Steel Force, then get Steel Force, make your way to Revolution (if you want to ride a Chance Revolution) and then walk right over to Laser. Depending on the lines, weather etc. and passing up those flats, you could have 3 coasters down in a little over a half hour with ease. Personally, I don't really like to do this. I like to get onto Talon first and then work my way to the back of the park, but I think that is because it is right there and I have a B&M invert fetish But yeah, you can hold out for that, and then get on it later before you get on Wild Mouse (not really recommended but it would add to coaster count) and Hydra of course. Once again, it all depends on the type of day it is. It will be early in the season, but then again, there will be Coaster Buzzers there too, so watch out for them.

Now as far as flats go... Dorney has a wonderful assortment of new and classic flats. Personally, I love their scambler, which can be found on the way towards Steel Force. The Whip is classic, which can be found towards that back of the park, sort of I guess. Getting into classic rides, if you are into them, The Zephyr is a good little train. It was built in 1935 and "saved the park" from being eaten up by the Great Depression. So if you are into that, it gives a nice ride into the back by the stream. So then working your way back to the front of the park, there are great flats (thrill rides, I don't really consider them to be flats) such as the Meteor and Hang Time (Huss Top Spin). Oh yeah, and you can always go towards the lake to admire the footers that are sticking out of the water of the fallen Hercules . *Sigh* Anyway, just remember, it all depends on the day.

As for the food... I don't know how much I can help you out with this considering I am a vegetarian, but here it goes. I usually like to get a Veggie Delight on Wheat from Subway, but of course, that is weirdo me. I also used to like Picasso Pizza, but now that is Monster Grille. Obviously, nothing really comes overly cheap, however, there are a few places that are worth your money. If you go to the Center Stage, there is a building there with a few different operations inside of it, Center Stage Snacks. Walk up to Fresh Kut Fries for some of the best French Fries that you will have at a park. They are a little pricey, but they are well worth it. Get a small for a few dollars and it will hold you off for a while, or get it as a compliment to something else. Patio Pizza isn't that bad, but I don't really recommend it. If you are into burgers, go to the other side of Center Stage to the Burger Barn. The last time I ate a burger there was about 11 years ago, but if they still make them like they used to, they are decent. If you are looking to sit down and eat (I don't know, maybe you want to for some reason) they are renovating the one sit down restaurant that they had into a sports themed restaurant called the Gameday Grille, I believe... I may be wrong. Then, there is also a diner that is right as you walk in from the enterance in the midway section near the pink "Elvis" car. I would stick to the walk up restaurants, like I am sure that you would do. If the new sports place is anything like the other place was, expect to see prices ranging from 9 to over 20 dollars, and for not really that much.

Now, the park will be open until 1

And also, any word yet on what ride is replacing the Joker? I just heard it was taken out of Dorney.

The Screaming Swing, juding from this quote from Cyclonic's TR a while back:

"I know, how can I go to Dorney in the winter, right? Well, today I got the chance to do a wintertime tour of the park, getting lots of photos of Hydra, which looks absolutly awesome, as well as learning some news.

First, the news. As most know, Skyscraper is gone. The upcharge ride in its place is going to be an S&S Screaming Swing. And it is not really going to be in its place, but instead going to be up next to the Wild Mouse, on the Talon side."
Which is where the Joker was, right? Its hard to tell looking at an old map..

Nothing is going to replace Joker. There is nothing on the park map and making a drive by, there doesn't seem to be any kind of preparation for a new attraction.

The Screamin' Swing is going over near the Wild Mouse. The Joker was over where the Hercules turn was. It was over in the area between where Hydra is now and the Enterprise and Tilt-a-Whirl and Musik Express and stuff like that.

Where does it say that? Oh, nevermind. My mistake. I was thinking about Hang Time. My bad. I'll change it.

I'm not really overly excited about Dorney Park this year for some reason. I know that they are getting Hydra and the Screamin' Swing, but nothing else is really looking up about the place other than my long awaited Steel Force paint job.

Well, if you are willing to dish out the money for it. It will be a pay attration, so expect like 10 dollars or something. And, I'm sure it will be up and running.

Oh, it's a pay attraction? Then never mind. I'm sure this will be fun, though.

To my knowledge, Joker isn't going anywhere.

Exhitbit A: No Joker on the new park map
No Joker

Exhibit B: No Joker on the park's ride list
No Joker on here either

Next, I did a drive by and I couldn't see it, but maybe it was out of my sight. Also, there are a bunch of others who have said that they have not seen it on site and the area is vacant. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow if possible.

Well, looks like Joker is gone then, or going. I'm surprised they didn't say anything when we were there. No real lose though.

I know it wasn't that great of a ride, but it is just another sign of the old, real Dorney saying goodbye to the Cedar Fair empire. Kind of sad really. I actually really liked the ride. I know it was getting old and all, but it still gave a cool view of the park. I heard it was going to Michigan Adventures, but, I have a feeling that they weren't able to get parts for it anymore, so they are just getting rid of it altogether.

Well, I would have liked to enjoy every bit of old Dorney I could when I went there, but, now, I guess I can't.

Meteor is the best along with Talon. But Hydra will be better.
